Second Pass…

Sue gets a little more color

Sue gets a little more color

This is the second pass of transparent color. I want the lovely brown-red of her coat to show through, even in the areas of the photograph that appear black in shadow. So I’m going to build up the layers, gradually darkening as I go. Her face looks a little too yellow right now, but that’s OK because a few layers from now that harsh yellow will be a soft underglow.

I think while I’m waiting for this layer to dry, I’ll go out and re-install my mailbox. Every winter a snowplow (?) takes it down. Or maybe it’s just some superstitious neighbor who doesn’t like the fact that my address has three 6’s in it. Nothing I can do about that, however. Just grin and bear it, and keep righting the silly mailbox.
