The boyfriend (also my artistic adventures partner) says Elvis looks like a horse with a history, and some stories to tell. That’s a pretty anthropomorphic observation from a guy who knows next to nothing about horses. I don’t know what stories the actual Elvis has to tell, but he certainly looks like he might have a few. He might have even more after I get the background going, but I think I’m done for today. Plenty of time to play with the background tomorrow. Good thing I’m not doing one of those “painting-a-day” projects that are so interesting and so popular among artists online nowadays. I’d never get one finished in one day!
Charm, showing off the only braids that will stay in her endless mane.

For not the first time, but maybe the last time, I have started a "home business". The difference with this one is that it is one I really enjoy. I've drawn and painted horses since I was (at least) five years old--that's the earliest one that my mother saved.By the time I entered my teens, Mother had grown a bit tired of the subject and urged me to do something else with my artwork besides horses. I followed her advice and never looked back until ten years ago when it occurred to me that people might actually pay for horse portraits. I have had many exhibits of my landscapes, and sold a good number of them--but not enough to provide any kind of steady income.
I'm hoping that if I work hard and market this business well I will be able to delight my customers, make some money, and have a lot of fun doing it.

Hi Alli. I’m so proud of you for pursuing your dream and making it a reality. Elvis has a wonderfully mischievous smile. Would love to know what he’s thinking!

Rachel,
Thanks for your support! As for Elvis, he’s thinking about that cute mare over in the next paddock! Can’t you just see him saying, “h-e-e-y baby “, or maybe “H-a-a-y baby” to give her a little extra enticement.
