Second layer down, ??? to go

The two ladies have some more color now. The goal is one rich black horse and one deep sorrel horse with red and gold highlights.

What a difference a day makes! The colors are developing nicely, so I will let this coat dry and maybe try for the third one later tonight. The background wouldn’t be quite so bright if I had my druthers, but the client requested a bright sunny day–so that is what she shall have. I’ll probably tone down the foliage a bit, but the sky is pretty much how it’s going to be. The foliage only has two coats on it right now, and in the painting world of Alli Farkas, that’s never enough!
