Challenge met

A quick update on the Willow Tree show–today dawned clear and dry, cool and breezy (what a relief after about 2 weeks of intense heat). Stayed that way till afternoon, when the wind really picked up and just kept blowing. New booth came through like a champ. It didn’t even pull on the dog tie-out/ratchet strap configuration I use “just to make sure”. Takes at least twice as long to set up/tear down as the old pop-up did, but it’s worth every extra minute to be able to sit there in the wind and know the whole contraption isn’t going to blow away!

The only down side was the dust. I don’t think I’ve ever been to an outdoor horse show that was this dusty. But with no rain for months, watering down the competition ring only cuts the dust for a couple of hours, then we’re back to square one. And it takes a long time to fill the tank used to wet down the ring. Nor can we keep interrupting the show to do ring maintenance. This is one time I was glad the show was at my home barn. I was able to raid one of Billy’s grooming brushes from my tack box and sweep off my table cloth and all the stuff on it every now and then!
