For not the first time, but maybe the last time, I have started a "home business". The difference with this one is that it is one I really enjoy. I've drawn and painted horses since I was (at least) five years old--that's the earliest one that my mother saved.By the time I entered my teens, Mother had grown a bit tired of the subject and urged me to do something else with my artwork besides horses. I followed her advice and never looked back until ten years ago when it occurred to me that people might actually pay for horse portraits. I have had many exhibits of my landscapes, and sold a good number of them--but not enough to provide any kind of steady income.
I'm hoping that if I work hard and market this business well I will be able to delight my customers, make some money, and have a lot of fun doing it.

It’s winter already!
Here we have another little Aquabord™ commission just completed. I didn’t know how long I would have to wait to post it, since it was commissioned as a gift. The catch was, would it be a birthday gift (post sooner) … Continue reading
The Mackinac Island Adventure
This is going to be one heck of a long post, but at least I don’t go on and on very often! It was a 2-day whirlwind adventure, although some of it was definitely not planned or needed! Four of … Continue reading
Two new paintings on Aquabord™
As usual I was able to paint while I babysat my booth at the Fox River Valley Pony Club horse trials two weekends ago. These two are my efforts from that show. The horse and cart is from a photo … Continue reading
Willow Tree celebrates its 20th year
It’s really unusual that a horse barn can exist for 20 years under the same management and have the same trainers for around 15 of those years. That was one of the main reasons I chose Willow Tree when I … Continue reading
Newbies
Photos of the two Aquabord™ paintings I completed while at the MSU Spartan Stampede Rodeo last weekend. The horse and cart didn’t take nearly as long as I thought it would, despite the complications added by the horse’s harness. That … Continue reading
My first Christmas parade (or any parade, for that matter)
I’ve been a spectator at quite a few small-town holiday parades but yesterday was the first time I was ever a participant. I expected it to be fun, and it was as soon as we got over some of the … Continue reading
Horses and carts!
I was at the Fox Valley Saddle Association for an open show last weekend and meant to post some photos from that show, but I took around 400 and didn’t have time to sort through them till today (have to … Continue reading
