For not the first time, but maybe the last time, I have started a "home business". The difference with this one is that it is one I really enjoy. I've drawn and painted horses since I was (at least) five years old--that's the earliest one that my mother saved.By the time I entered my teens, Mother had grown a bit tired of the subject and urged me to do something else with my artwork besides horses. I followed her advice and never looked back until ten years ago when it occurred to me that people might actually pay for horse portraits. I have had many exhibits of my landscapes, and sold a good number of them--but not enough to provide any kind of steady income.
I'm hoping that if I work hard and market this business well I will be able to delight my customers, make some money, and have a lot of fun doing it.

The plea is working…and so is Sky Pads 35
My last post’s plea for donations to the 501(c)3 organization that I helped found and of which I am treasurer has been heard and acted upon. Not necessarily by a coterie of readers of my blog, but enough to get … Continue reading
An update and…a plea (first, the plea)
If you read my last post, most of the first part of this one will be familiar. But in case I have some new readers I will summarize just for their benefit😂. I’m going to assume that most of my … Continue reading
No, I have not left the planet
I just noticed my last post was sometime in March. I do look at and comment on bloggers posts I follow, but there hasn’t been much going on in my studio except waiting and a little bit of painting. Somehow … Continue reading
Waiting for paint to dry
Below are the final version of Sky Pads 34 and the one immediately preceding it. I actually finished it several days ago, but the last tweak I made to it was a pour of very wet but very transparent paint. … Continue reading
The second decision
After a spell of uncertainty I managed to come up with a plan for my second move. This is it. It will not be final. There will be at least a third iteration, maybe more. But for now, feel free … Continue reading
One decision has been made
Well, at least one decision. A skajillion more are likely. But I’m thinking in this case less may be more. I like this first pass, and I have plans for one or two more, but I will do my best … Continue reading
The indecisive background
This background for Sky Pads 34 was poured on the same day as the one for Sky Pads 33. I don’t remember what day that was, but it was a long time ago. At least sometime before October of last … Continue reading
Finally 33
I guess the end of 2021 will be featuring titles starting with “Finally”. Anyhow, here at last is the complete Sky Pads 33 version. It seems like today is a day where nothing can go right, electronically speaking. I meant … Continue reading
Sky Pads 33 part 2
You can see now that the general scheme here is a progression of the leaves on a diagonal from bottom right to upper left. This wasn’t obvious in my last post unless you enjoy squinting at faint drawing lines to … Continue reading
A slightly different approach
This one has been sitting around with its background done for quite a while, amid various vague promises from me that I would be doing something with it soon. So yeah, it’s got the early stages of subject matter started. … Continue reading
